Giving yourself love

In light of recent events in my life, I have neglected my blog. (I was originally trying to post once a week and then build up to 3 or 4 times a week.) I have been taking time to work through things and work on making sure that I am doing well. This can be hard, for someone like me who would rather listen to and be there for my friends and sisters than help myself. Over the past two years, though, I have learned that it is important to love yourself and give yourself that time so that you can better support and help others but also so that you are healthy and happy!
I wanted to share some tips on how I work on myself and create a pro-self care environment. I am not perfect, I am working on this myself. Some days I do not want to stop and make sure that I am okay and healthy, it is always a work in progress! A lot of my tips involve yoga and my essential oils, you can purchase and learn more about them through my website!

1. reading a book/bible. I love reading and when I am upset or feeling down it is nice to escape the real world and go into another world within a book. I always like reading my bible because it makes me feel closer to God and that soon He will lead me to happiness and the truth. I am so grateful for that!

2. take a shower. I enjoy baths however you can only have one set temperature so I like being in the shower and being able to change it to hot and then cooler towards the end of my shower. Sounds weird but it helps me calm down and ground myself.

3. journal. Whenever I am upset it helps to write it all down and then either let it go or read it and find a solution. Along with this, I usually read the bible afterwards asking God for advice and guidance during this time.

4. drink a cup of tea. Tea is always calming to me. It has become a part of my morning and evening routine. After I workout or do yoga, I'll take a shower and drink some of my favorite tea, English Breakfast! Then in the evening I will drink it while I read before going to bed.

5. listen to music and dance. You know in Grey's Anatomy how Meredith and Christina always dance and just let things go? That is what I do, alone, when I am upset. I usually end up laughing which helps me feel better!

I hope that where ever you are in life that you take time each day or at least once a week to love yourself and make time for some "me time".
