Starting the semester right

After break it is really hard to get back into the schedule and routine of real life. So I have come up with a few tips and tricks that I use to help myself get into a routine, schedule, and be motivated to do it all. Use your break the rejuvenate and refresh yourself. Make those new year resolutions count and motivate yourself to work hard this year.

I am really trying to focus on everything my classes have to offer. I am in WSU's College of Education and I have realized that we are learning the most important things while in the program. I understand my first year of teaching will be really hard and I will stumble around a bit. However, they are giving us so many tools and resources that I cannot wait to use and take advantage of. I want to really take in the information and try my hardest to be the best student I can be, setting me up to be the best teacher I can be for my students.

i just finished my first week of classes and I love my teachers, I love my advisor and could not be more excited to learn so much this year. When a new semester begins, it is important to feel confident and excited to take it on. Even in high school, I remember coming back from break with a fresh mindset and ready to start new. I have complied a list of tips that I found helpful to be motivated and start off the semester right.

Organize your planner- I always start off a new semester or new class with going through the entire syllabus and working out what grades I want to get on projects. Then I go through and add all the assignments to my planner with due dates and points they are worth. This helps me stay organized and keep on track on my assignments.

Wake up early- I typically wake up around 5 or 5:30, I am trying to get better about waking up around 6 and getting the same amount of work done. I usually get up go on a run, do yoga, and then shower and read. It helps me get started and motivated for the day. If I don't get up early then I typically am not motivated to do things.

Get it done- After adding things to my planner I put reminders and set draft dates for the bigger projects so that I do not fall behind. A lot of my classes have 15 or so things at the end of the semester due. In order to stay on track, I add reminders and personal due dates so that I do not have 20+hrs of work to do dead week.

New Supplies-At the beginning of every school year/semester I always love going to Target and buying new supplies. I have used the same backpack all my college years but I typically get one binder, 5 folders, and one (three subject) notebook. My classes we don't take a lot of notes and anything that I find important or something I could use in my classroom I will jot down but besides that I usually do not take many notes.

Clean out your clutter- I try to clean out my closet, stuff, and study so that I feel less crowded and more clean slate for the new semester. It helps me to stay on track and work forward with less items. I am really trying to not be focused on all the stuff I have in life but having things with a purpose or if I don't need it then don't get it.

I hope these helped! Let me know if you want me to post about my templates that I use to organize my master class binder every semester.
