this season's travels

I am so excited to be leaving this Sunday for a trip with my beautiful family. When my Opa passed away my mother wanted to take some of his ashes to Germany, where he grew up and lived a lot of his life. Everyone in my family has been there at least 2 times. Now we get the chance to go a third all together! We will be going from London to Germany to Paris. I am incredibly excited for this adventure and ready to make a lifetime of memories with my family.

That was written before i left, having every intention of posting an explaining my travel itinerary. Well, that obviously did not happen, so here I am again writing the results from that amazing journey around Europe! Our first stop was London, we got to visit all the major spots and had the best time doing it, I will never forget. I will do a post for each location so that the photos don't go a mile long on this post!
First, we went to London. I loved it! I would definitely consider living there. A few highlights:

  • High tea, let's just say my family is not classy enough for this activity...
  • Big Ben, covered in scaffolding. Disappointed but blessed to be there.
  • Changing of the guards at the Buckingham Palace was amazing.
  • Harry Potter Tour! Seeing the original sets, costumes, props, and everything in-between
  • The London Eye, we got to see the beautiful city from a birds eye view and I enjoyed every moment.
  • The London Bridge, good thing it did not fall down ;)

After London we headed to Germany, where we have family to celebrate Christmas and New Years with. I am so glad we got to go back to Hamburg and visit with family, this trip made me reflect on life and I felt closer to my Opa. I was so happy to experience Germany during a time that I could better appreciate the towns and memories. Highlights:

  • Christmas Markets, they were so magical and filled with goodies that everyone would love. Santa even paid a visit
  • Burying my Opa, I am so glad we got to bring him home and say goodbye again.
  • Christmas Eve night, we got to see German Christmas and visit with family!
  • Visiting Opa's house he grew up in
  • Going on a walk with Mathius and his family
  • St.Michael's Church, such a beautiful place and a must see!
  • New Years with family and doing fireworks
  • Visiting Frieburg where my brother lived for a year while studying.

Then, we headed to Paris. Wow. Just wow, it was so magical and so beautiful. I wanted to stay there for a whole month or year. I just loved every street and every person we interacted with. Highlights:

  • Eiffel Tower, so much bigger in person
  • Arc de Triomphe, what an awesome monument. Juste being there was incredible, I loved looking at it.
  • Notre Dame, a beautiful Cathedral and such amazing history inside.
  • The cafes were so fun and wonderful!
  • Sacré-CÅ“ur, a wonderful place to visit at night and see it all lit up!
  • The Louvre, wow. You must make this place a priority on your Paris list!
  • Jardin du Luxembourg, so beautiful and you can sit for hours people watching and finding new things within the garden to look at.
  • Place de la Concorde, a monument separating Tuilerie Gardens from the beginning of the Champs Elysees. I loved looking at this monument with my crepe!

This trip was very much needed and I had no idea how much I would earn, grow, and become much more grateful for my family and stories. I am so blessed that I got to go on this adventure with my family and learn so much. If you ever have the chance to take a trip in your early twenties with your family, do it! It was a struggle at some points but when I look back I remember nothing but love and fun!
